Crossing Boundaries

JDEP

I watched these lovely young people for a while today as they chatted and laughed away, and decided to snap a picture. This is quite rewarding to see such bonding between the hearing and the deaf, because that was one of our goals in this small community, to educate the hearing about the deaf and visa versa. I am thrilled to report, they are listening.

Thank you!!

The children and dorm parents, at the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf (CCCD), were excited about their new outfits and shoes.  Really for them , it was like going shopping and it was a lot of fun watching each child’s excitement. Therefore, these four beautiful girls wanted to say “thank you” for your kindness. What a blessing.

JDEP Summer Programme: Emancipation Square…Embracing our Past

This time we went to Emancipation Square in Spanish Town…Jamaica’s old capital…for an educational tour. The boys were very interested in learning about where we as Jamaicans have come from. A very rewarding day!

Just want to take the time out to thank our tour guide who was a very kind man with a very compassionate heart. A big THANK YOU!

JDEP Summer Programme: Salt River…Spreading the Love

We went to Salt River to cool off from the summer heat. The boys had a great time! This was also a time for educating the community about deaf persons, they were very supportive.

Such a happy bunch! I spend time with these students in the classroom and man they are eager to learn and…teach. I learned a lot from them.

Newletter June 2012

Hi Friends of JDEP,

Today was the last day of school, which means the boys are home. I know they are missing their friends already!

However, as you may know already, yesterday was the Class of 2012 graduation ceremony, and some items that we shared were given as gifts to the Graduates. We shared two army duffel bags full of clothing, personal items, and stationery. It was exciting to see so many cute happy faces. They are extremely appreciative and give the biggest hugs I have ever received.

They are wonderful, wonderful children and there are so many more that still need help. Please take a moment to make a donation, using a safe and easy way, by visiting our website http://jdep.org. Your help is greatly needed and will make a huge difference in one deaf child’s life.

We also want to take the time out to thank each and every one, who did take that one moment to stop and give. Your generous donations were and are the reason we’re able to do what we do…and that is to help one child at a time.

If you haven’t already, please join our cause to Support Deaf Children Living in Jamaica. Thank you and One Love.

PS

All Smiles…

…as we were recognized for volunteering at the CCCD, during the Class of 2012 graduation ceremony. We are blessed to have worked with some of the most wonderful teachers, students, work teams, and CCCD employees. An awesome experience!
